Celtics and Grant Williams Give Conflicting Perspectives on Hornets Forward’s Flagrant 2

Friday’s match between Boston Celtics And Charlotte Frelons was dynamic, culminating with Hornets forward Grant Williams bowling against Celtics forward (and former teammate) Jayson Tatum and receiving a Flagrant 2 foul.

Although Tatum walked off the Spectrum Center floor unscathed, the play annoyed his Boston teammates — and they didn’t hide their feelings after the game.

“It wasn’t a basketball game. Grant knows better than that,” forward Jaylen Brown said via writer John Karalis. “There’s no room for that in the game. I thought JT and Grant were friends. I guess not.”

“He’s just too big to do stuff like that,” added guard Derrick White via Karalis; Although Tatum is two inches taller than Williams, the latter weighs nearly 30 pounds over the former.

Williams, for her part, calmly defended her actions to Kayla Burton of NBC Sports Boston.

“I think it’s mostly that he didn’t see me before anything else. I definitely made contact with the body before I reached him,” Williams said. “Definitely not intentional. I’m not trying to harm him in any way.”
