Explore STEM and Celebrate Dia De Los Muertos at Family E-Day in Bryan

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – If your kids are interested in STEM, there’s an event for them over the weekend in Bryan.

It’s the annual Engineering Family Day Sunday, hosted by the Texas A&M Engineers’ Council, Project REACH and Long Intermediate School.

“I think for a lot of students, science is a difficult thing. Or science and math are the hard things they do in class and it’s not as exciting. It’s not as fun,” student Olivia Rajagopal told KBTX. “We want to show that it can be creative and fun, and that it’s something that kids are interested in.”

The event will take place from 2-4:30 p.m. at Long Intermediate School and will feature 14 interactive science experiments, take-home science experiments, a family photo booth and refreshments.

Additionally, the event will highlight Día De Los Muertos; Day of the Dead.

“We wanted to give this event, which is not often celebrated as much, a little bit of light, especially in a place like Bryan-College Station where there is a big Hispanic culture,” added student Cole Cieslewicz.

To highlight this, the event will also include a Salsa Fusion performance, salsa dance lessons and a performance by the Texas A&M mariachi band.

This event is free and is aimed at children in kindergarten through sixth grade.
