Google Discover tests the redesign of Material 3 maps

Google is testing a Material 3 redesign of the Discover feed on the left of Android home screens and in the Google app.

The current design places images, text, and buttons directly on a light or dark background. Articles (and announcements) are simply separated by a line separator.

Current

Google Discover is currently testing a feed redesign that places each item in a map without borders. Images are noticeably larger, while you’re left with just one button for the overflow menu, where “Save” and “Share” have been moved.

Google also emphasizes a type of card that notes the topic at the top with the ability to quickly follow it with a “more” button. The double-overflow menu design is a bit excessive here, although the usual item cards still exist.

This redesign of Google Discover seems more in line with Material 3, but feels too busy and cluttered. We see this on the latest Google app beta (version 15.43).
