Rural Georgia counties show positive signs of early voting for the GOP

Raised early vote participation in deep red Georgia Counties say former President Donald Trump could be on track to win the battleground state in just five days.

Towns County GOP Chair Betsy Young explained the Republican change of heart: “Four years ago, we were reactive instead of proactive. But now we are proactive,” she said.

Towns County saw an early voting turnout of 60% in 2020. This time around, more than two-thirds of the county’s voters have already cast ballots before Election Day, with early voting scheduled to end Friday evening.

Early voter turnout reached unprecedented levels across Georgia this year. Total turnout surpassed the 3.5 million mark on Thursday, meaning more than 50% of the state’s active voters cast ballots. Early voting exceeds the 3.2 million mark on Tuesday, compared to 2.1 million early votes cast at the same time in the state in 2020, by Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger.
