“Major theft” in Guelph leads to charges against Brampton man

A Brampton man has been charged after a “major theft” at a Guelph store earlier this year in which merchandise worth thousands of dollars was stolen, police said.

Guelph police say on Jan. 28, two men entered a business on Woodlawn Road West and one of them left the store with a cart containing six Milwaukee blowers, worth $398 each. .

“He then entered the store and met the second man and they left together with a cart loaded with electrical supplies,” police allege.

All of the merchandise was then loaded into a white van that was waiting with a third suspect, police said.

Police estimated the total loss at $8,000.

Staff at the business recognized the two men who entered the store “as they are suspects in several thefts across Ontario,” police said.

Both are currently subject to a release order on the condition that they are not together, police added.

On Wednesday, a suspect was arrested by another police service and then returned to Guelph.

A 32-year-old Brampton resident has been charged with theft over $5,000 and failing to comply with a release order.

He was held for a bail hearing before being released on November 22.

A police spokesperson told INsauga.com that two other suspects remain outstanding.
