Hungary received a record volume of Russian gas this year via the TurkStream pipeline, amounting to 6.2 billion cubic meters, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said after a meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in margins of the 2nd international conference on Eurasia. security in Minsk.

The two ministers discussed issues of energy cooperation between Russia and Hungary, he noted. “The security and competitiveness of Hungary’s energy supply are always guaranteed through rational cooperation with Russia,” Szijjarto said during a speech in Minsk broadcast by M1 TV channel. This year, 6.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas were transported from Russia via the TurkStream pipeline and its branches through Bulgaria and Serbia to Hungary, he said. “This is currently the largest volume of gas” in annual terms, the minister stressed.

In total, 20 million cubic meters of gas are supplied to Hungary through TurkStream every day, he said.

The parties also discussed the results of a recent meeting of the bilateral commission on economic cooperation in Budapest, which was attended by its co-chair, Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko, Szijjarto said, adding that “the parties confirmed their intention to continue to expand cooperation in the fields. not affected by the sanctions.”
