According to a report, 10% of hires in 2024 hold job titles that did not exist in 2000

We all know that the business and workforce landscape is changing rapidly, but a recently released overview of LinkedIn’s job changes has further confirmed it. It showed that 10% of filled jobs worldwide in 2024 had titles that were virtually non-existent in 2000. Positions such as sustainability manager, AI engineer, social media manager, data scientist and success manager customer have now become essential across the industry. various industries, but initially they did not exist.

This change is primarily fueled by technological advancements such as artificial intelligence (AI) and increased focus on sustainability. Among 5,000 global business leaders surveyed, 82% in India said they have witnessed rapid transformation in the workplace. This transformation is marked by growing demand for new roles, skills and innovative technologies that are fundamentally reshaping job requirements.

With generative AI leading the way, 70% of global business leaders have identified AI adoption as a top priority for 2025. Ruchee Anand, Head of Talent Solutions at LinkedIn India, highlighted this trend: “ As we look toward 2025, businesses are increasingly prioritizing the adoption of AI, as well as significant investments in upskilling and reskilling their workforce. Embracing AI isn’t just about keeping up; it’s also about empowering teams, fostering innovation, and creating a resilient workforce ready to thrive.

In India, HR professionals are keenly aware of the changing landscape; Nearly 69 percent say job expectations have reached an all-time high. About six in ten say experience alone is no longer enough to stay competitive, and more than half say career advancement now relies heavily on mastering AI.

Technological advancement has taken center stage for businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic, which has further accelerated technological advancement, leading to the need for new roles emerging today. These innovations have not only improved the quality of life but also the quality of jobs, making AI redundant.
