Ocala residents get free SunTran rides for Try Transit Tuesday

OCALA, Fla. (WCJB) – It was a day of free rides throughout Ocala.

SunTran rides were free Tuesday until 10 p.m. as part of the Florida Department of Transportation’s Mobility Week.

State transportation officials say this week is an opportunity for residents to get out and find new ways to get around their city.

“So Mobility Week is an annual event where we encourage people in the community to get out and move, which means walking, hiking, biking, using SunTran as public transportation, just to have an idea of what’s available in terms of mobility and getting around the city easily,” said Ashley Dobbs, Ocala public relations specialist.

City leaders encouraged residents to try the SunTran bus system as part of Transit Tuesday.
