6 new restaurants at Square One in Mississauga

Already one of Mississauga’s most popular places to grab a bite to eat, Square One is just getting better with the opening of several new restaurants.

The Food District is Square One’s urban food hall and is home to more than 20 popular restaurants, including Mexican restaurant La Carnita, dessert restaurant Big Fat Cookies and Korean fried chicken restaurant MyMy Chicken, among others.

This popular spot combines traditional restaurants with a rotating lineup of pop-up shops in The District Kitchen (located in the heart of the Food District), ensuring that even regular visitors always have something new and appetizing to try.

New restaurants are constantly opening at Square One’s The Food District. Check out these popular spots that recently opened or are on the list for later this fall:

Mogouyan noodles

Mogouyan Noodles, proud to be one of the most well-known beef noodle brands in China, is among the newest restaurants coming soon to the Food District. The restaurant specializes in hand-pulled noodles and offers a variety of noodle shapes and sizes, including classic, thin round, thin and flat options.

Their signature beef noodle soup is made with flavorful beef and chicken broth, braised beef slices and chili oil, a delicious combination of heat and flavor. Other menu items include spring rolls, edamame, chicken wings and ravioli.

Egg Club

The popular Egg Club restaurant started as a way to offer diners a less expensive option for breakfast (but these tasty sandwiches can be enjoyed any time of day). Their signature egg sandwiches are made with flavor and affordability in mind, with fresh eggs and ingredients served in light and fluffy Japanese milk bread.

The menu has a multitude of options to choose from including their Classic Egg Sandwich, Ham and Cheese, Peanut Butter and Jelly, BLT, Meat Lovers and much more. Beyond sandwiches, they also offer a meat lovers bowl and a chipotle lobster bowl.

Marry me Mochi

Foodies with a weakness for Japanese-style sweets will find what they’re looking for at Marry Me Mochi, an upscale café that combines traditional Japanese mochi – a soft rice cake made from pounded glutinous rice – with the familiar shape of an American donut.

Some of their popular donuts include the “Creme Brulove” (creme brulee flavor) and the “Butter Than Your Ex” (cookie butter), whose flavors change weekly to keep things fresh. The shop also serves specialty drinks, including Vietnamese coffee and creatively flavored lattes.

The purple bakery

Originally one of The District Kitchen’s pop-ups, The Purple Bakeshop has opened a full location for its authentic Filipino desserts, snacks, and pastries. As the name suggests, most of the baked goods offered here are bright purple, which comes from a popular Filipino ingredient in baked goods called ube (aka purple yam), making them a treat for the mouth and the eyes.

The bakery’s products are available in a variety of flavors including chocolate, mango and ube, with the most popular items being cakes, tarts, cupcakes, cheesecakes, cookies and dessert boxes.

Stock up on juice

Toronto-based cold-pressed juice bar Refuel Juicery will bring its selection of popular juices and smoothies to Square One later this fall. With multiple locations across the Greater Toronto Area, this juice bar aims to offer flavorful drinks made with fresh, healthy ingredients.

Their menu includes refreshing juices made with your choice from a wide selection of fruits and vegetables: watermelon, orange, apple, carrot, ginger, beetroot and more. They also offer a wide range of fruit smoothies and vegetarian smoothies, like their “Special” smoothie which blends mango, strawberry, banana and almond milk.

Blossom Moments Florist and Café

Coffee with a side of flowers – yes please! Both a café and a florist, Blossom Moments aims to celebrate life’s precious moments with beautiful bouquets, whether you need a gift for someone or just want to treat yourself. Their new location will now include a cafe, so you can sit and indulge while admiring the beauty of lush flowers such as peonies, ranunculus, anemones and garden roses.

Beyond these new openings, foodies can continue to find a variety of popular mainstays at the Food District. Enjoy tacos, churros, and more authentic Mexican cuisine at La Carnita, enjoy crispy Korean fried chicken at MyMy Chicken, find the perfect cookie to satisfy your cravings at Big Fat Cookies, and so much more.

As for pop-ups, The neighborhood kitchen is sold out until the end of the year with these exciting new stores. Don’t forget to stop by and see them before they disappear:

  • Soft Dough Co. from October 28 to November 3
  • Kainan Na from November 4 to 17
  • Bao Mama from November 18 to December 31
